Adam has trained thousands of clients of ALL breeds and behavior types working as the head trainer at one of the leading dog training companies in Austin for the past 8 years and has been training dogs for 13 years total. His certifications include: Canine Conditioning Coach, AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Evaluator. Courtney has worked for years as a professional trainer, veterinary assistant as a manager for multiple doggy daycare & boarding businesses. We connected 10 years ago through our work, passion for dogs and training ultimately leading to a life of love, partnership and our own family of kids and dogs! Now, we are pouring our years of canine expertise and our passion for helping dogs and their families into our own dream, Open Gates Dog Training. Some words from your trainer, Adam!
Australian born, I moved to the states after owning and running a successful personal fitness training business, where I developed a passion for motivating and educating people. I had an opportunity shortly after moving here, to get to work with dogs and helped re-build the training program at a well known daycare/boarding facility. I grew up in a rural area helping out with dogs who herd cattle and sheep. I learned to love a working relationship with a dog and strive to implement that bond between pet owners and their dogs, which is when I decided to shift over to the dog training industry completely. I still coach trainers on a regular basis for one of the leading training companies in Austin. I help to advance their skills and develop efficiency and success with the dogs in their facilities. My passion is helping people truly communicate with their dogs in a way that it’s mutually beneficial, creating respect, love, and partnership between you and your dog. I am certified in canine conditioning for those sporting dogs or highly active dogs. I have specialized in severe behavioral cases for the past 8 years. I love piecing together the recipe to help you and your dog be successful together. The best part of dog training is the team connection we build. I want your dog to love and respect you and to earn freedom because of it!

PRIVATE LESSONS
Do you want to learn how to train along side your dog? We will come to you for weekly, 60 minute sessions and create a simple training plan for you and your pup to work on each week based on your goals. We provide phone and email support in between each session and beyond. We understand that the goals and abilities of every human and dog vary greatly. Ask us about our virtual lesson options! We are dedicated to fostering clear communication, respect and improved partnership between human and dog. We are passionate about teaching you how to communicate clearly with your dog and understand what your dog is saying to you so that you can live a happier life together. STAY & TRAIN
Looking for a jumpstart to your dog's obedience skills? During a Stay & Train we will train your dog in our home for 1 to 3 weeks depending on your unique training goals & expectations. We are located in Leander and serve all surrounding areas. We happily provide pick up and drop off at the beginning and end of your dog's training. You will receive frequent updates and can follow us on social media to watch your dogs training journey! Once your pup's initial training is completed, you get 2 to 3 private lessons where we will teach you what they have learned and open new gateways to better communication and quality of life! Unlike high volume training facilities, we only accept a couple training dogs at a time in order to ensure your dog will have a family home experience instead of a stressful boarding experience. We provide a daily routine of training, play time & exercise. In our home they will also experience healthy socialization around our 2 kids & pack of 4 dogs. Your dog will learn commands, polite manners and boundary respect in every interaction both in-home and out in public.
STAY & REFRESH*
*This service is only available to clients who have previously completed a training progam with us. Whether you are leaving town or just want your dog to refresh their previous training skills, we offer boarding in the comfort of our home along with daily walks and training refresher sessions with our pack. Your pup will be immersed in structure, play, boundaries and mental enrichment while they stay with us.
